Fighting

Fighting is generally frowned upon by everyone. Parents, teachers, some peers, and almost all cops. We use fighting in our life to further ourselves, some fights may not be physical, but it's still fighting. Just because some people prefer physicality to other options doesn't mean that they are bad people. In some cases we need to use our brawn instead of our brains. If someone is doing crap to you or any one in your family, it's your responsibility to end it. If anyone laid one finger on my family, I know that I wouldn't hold myself back at all. In some cases, violence IS the answer. Never, never show fear or resraint if you are challenged but if it's needed, drop that kid and show him who's the boss. These little punks think that if they beat you, they will earn some respect, in that case, let your knuckles show them the respect they deserve. It might be frowned upon by your teachers and peers, but until they are in that position, they don't know what it's like to be hunted down so a punk can try to earn some street cred. Always look for a comprimise, but if someone's giving you lip, shove that lip down their throat. I am not advocating vilence, but I am saying that if the time calls, don't make it call again.

War

War and violence are a major part of our world. Everyday we see violence around us, whether on the television, or in real life, we see violence. We can use it to start problems and we can use it to end a problem. If someone starts pushing you around, you can punch them and start a fight which could end up hurting both of you, or you can try to walk away, which doesn't always work. Violence can help you in some cases, and i don't think we need to be shy about using it when we need to. When the moment comes, strike, and when you can, get out of there.

40 Theives

Those forty theives that were in the story were portrayed alot nicer in Aladdin than in the story we read. These theives were murderers and killers. they ripped apart a man who found the secret cave, and happened to forget the password. These theives weren't very smart, because two of the theives forgot the house that they marked, and the rest couldn't figure out that a girl was talking to them, and wound up dead. This shows that if you are going to pull off a murder, or a robbery, you need people who are smart, not just a lot of stupid people with big muscles.

quiet time

I think for us to actually observe what is going on around us, we need to shut our mouths. Many people I know can't seem to be able to shut their traps! I'm not trying to be rude, because i have the same problem. i think that if we were to go up into the mountains, totally isolated, and we observe whats around us or meditated, we could all become more observant. The more time we spend alone, the more time we have to think and observe our surroundings. if we spend that time, we can come up with our own philosophies. The thing is, the more silent we become, the more we get to know ourselves and our thoughts. The more we see our thoughts and understand them, the more we come to actually see what we see.

Asian gunpowder

China invented one of the most powerful things in the world. Gunpowder. Gunpowder is highly explosive, and it has many uses. Some of these are: fireworks, bullets, firecrackers, tank shells, grenades and many more things. Most of these uses are military uses because it has explosive properties which can be used to launch something, such as a tank shell or a bullet, or can be used as an explosive such as a grenade. Gunpowder has helped the rise and fall of many countries and minorities. Among these are native americans and the early Mexican residents, such as incas, and many other tribes. Gunpowder has been used to wage wars, and to win them. No printing press has ever won a war. I do not think that when the printing press was made, Genghis Khan loading up printing presses and shooting them out of catapults. And for some reason, I don't think that Napolean rode down a mountain on a printing press waiving his sword in the air. Gun powder has influenced us whether we like it or not. We have created more efficient ways of killing people with gunpowder, and we use that against our enemies. If, in the future, zombies rise out of their graves, then i guess that we could make little printing guns that shoot out bibles at them to kill them, but i kind of doubt that this will happen.

The Crusades

The crusades were one of the most important things that has ever happened. This was one of the largest, if not the largest, wars during the dark ages. The king gave a rallying speech to the Franks, and said that anyone who fought would go to heaven. Guess how many people fought. A lot of christian soldiers went to the holy land to reclaim "their" land from the muslims. this single act was HUGE in the developing of the world.

Grendal

I thought that grendal was a cross between Clover from Cloverfield, and the cave troll from Lord of the Rings. These are pictures of each monster, you can imagine what I think that Grendal looks like. the thing is the description in the book cannot be correct, because it said that Grendal could carry thirty men, yet only big enough that Beowulf could wrestle with him. either he could balance all thirty on top of him, or he must be alot bigger than described.

Politics

Politics today are out of control. I think that both candidates are poor choices for presidents, and i think that McCain is the lesser of the two evils. I took a very long (50 question) quiz, and I had 96.63 percent the same views with John McCain. I also thought that the rejection of the bailout plan was one of the worst decisions that this country has ever made. The reason being that we could have mended almost all of the damage that was caused. The problem of the falling economy hit home this past week with the fall of the Lehman Brothers, because the three other investment banking buisinesses were converted into different things, and now investment banking doesn't exist, which was what my brother was going to do as a career, and now his entire future just crumbled. The problem is that we are not educated enough to make the right choices to be able to avoid this recession, and to get our country debt free. We need smarter people in the oval office, and in the cabinet, and the legislature, and in all the branches of government. We need smarter people!!

Morally OK

I think anything that you are comfortable talking about with a stranger is morally OK. Gore and violence has been introduced to us since we were all children, even with the old video games like doom and quake. In a way, we have been desensitized to most of the "bad things" that are around us. If we walk in to a movie and we see people getting blown up, people getting shot, and people getting stabbed, it's a normal movie, but in a way that's what makes us Americans. We can make our own morals, and we don't even need to stick by them, that's why they are OUR morals. We have the freedom to have our own morals, no one can take that away from us.

List the reasons why:
  • I should bother studying world history.
  • I should bother studying literature.
  • I should bother studying language arts.
  • I should bother studying geography.
You should bother with world history because people have made mistakes and you don't want to make the same mistakes as they did.
Literature is good because if you want a girl to like you and you start reciting poems, you should know where it came from.
language arts is important because if you go to a foreign country you will be able to know what language they speak, and get a translator.
geography is crucial because if you go to the middle east, you know not to cross the border into iran.
